posted Oct 7, 2012, 7:29 PM by Crissy Nolen

Riders - get ready to pedal at our annual Bike the Bend for Literacy on Sunday, November 18, 2012 sponsored by Texas Direct Auto. The event is not only a fun event to enjoy with your family and friends, but it is also a Recommend MS150 ride. Always the Sunday before Thanksgiving, mark your calendars now to ride!

There are three different routes of 20, 32 and 62 miles. Bike the Bend starts at 8:00 a.m. and starts/finishes at Foster High School, 4400 FM 723, in Richmond.

While riding around the outskirts of Ft. Bend County, riders will have a breathtaking view and have access to three rest stops along the way with mechanical assistance and refreshments. Healthy pre-ride fruits and snacks will be provided by Whole Food Market Sugar Land again this year. Post ride food will be provided by My Fit Foods. During the ride, there will be energizing music and enthusiastic volunteers cheering you on to the finish line!

Please save the date! You may register now at Active.com or by visiting the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County website. Rider registration is $30 until Friday, November 9; $40 thereafter. Sponsorship opportunities are also available that range in price from $250 to $5,000. If you or your business is interested in participating, please contact the Literacy Council for more information at 281.240.8181 or e-mail blogan@ftbendliteracy.org.

All proceeds will benefit the students of Literacy Council whose mission is to end intergenerational cycles of illiteracy and generate community-wide literacy awareness.
