The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County announces Kelli Metzenthin as its new executive director.

Metzenthin is a Fort Bend County native and an active community volunteer. She brings more than 12 years of experience in business, fundraising and nonprofit development.

"The literacy council is a wonderful organization - it's all about building a better community and helping people help themselves," said Metzenthin. "It is also about families and children in our community. When adults are motivated to better their life skills, they set examples for their children and pave the way for the next generation of adults and leaders."

Metzenthin said she looks forward to using her skills and experience to benefit the council's many adult learners, to bring even greater awareness to literacy issues and to increase volunteer activities in the Fort Bend County area.

Metzenthin enjoys growing organic vegetables, cooking with her husband and playing with her dog. She serves as an Exchange Club of Fort Bend board member.
