The Second Annual Duck Golf Classic, hosted by the Exchange Club of Fort Bend, has been set for Oct. 25 at Pecan Grove Country Club in Richmond.

“One of the famous Exchange phrases Exchangites hold dear is ‘doing good and having fun’ and that is exactly what we do, especially the fun part of it,” said Dorothy Nall, chair, Duck Golf Classic, past president Exchange Club of Fort Bend and past president Texas Gulf Coast District of The National Exchange Club.

Before the Best Ball Scramble golf tournament, golfers can purchase Mulligans and Tiger Drives. Those who arrive early are invited to a golf swing workshop. Team awards will include first, second and third and last. Men and women with the longest drive and closest to the pin will also be awarded. The highest bidders for the limited live and silent auction items will also be winners

“Winners in every category will have their names in the hat for the last drawing of the evening. Last year the prize was a flat screen TV, and this year an equivalent prize will be offered,” Nall said.

Winners in the raffle will select from four live auction items. Items include a Matagorda Bay house with a fishing trip, beautiful jewelry, and a barbeque for 50 or Crawfish for 25. Only 100 tickets will be sold, at $50 each. Tickets can be purchased on the website.

“La Cocina Mexican Restaurant, an area favorite, will be serving a fajita dinner with all the trimmings after the tournament. So, even if you are not a golfer, join us for dinner and auction,” Nall said. “This golf tournament is the Exchange Club of Fort Bend’s only annual fundraiser, in which we raise funds to help stop child abuse in Fort Bend. This lunch club has donated thousands of dollars to Child Abuse Prevention and other community efforts.”

Last year 30 teams competed and helped raise approx. $36,000 and this year the goal is to have 40 teams and raise $60,000.

Golf Tournament registration begins at 11 a.m. with tee off at noon. Golfers, those who join the group for dinner, and interested sponsors should visit the website, Cost for golfers is $100, for dinner $15 and sponsorships range from $250 – $5,000.   For more information call 713-572-0807 or e-mail
